I am an Irish artist currently residing outside Pomeroy, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Born and raised in Ireland, I have long had a passion for the visual arts, which led me to pursue a formal education at the Belfast College of Art. I completed an arts foundation course followed by an honour’s degree in textiles.
I went on to have a 20+ year career in the NHSCT, during which this time I delivered painting classes as part of my work.
Now I have more time to devote in continuing my art journey, I like to work primarily in oil paints, focusing on still life, landscape, and enjoy experimenting with abstract painting.
In my still life work I capture the simplicity and beauty of everyday objects, while in my landscapes I explore the rich, diverse textures and moods of Irelands natural world. In my abstract pieces I explore colour, value, movement, composition, texture, mood and form, allowing me to push the boundaries of traditional painting, offering fresh perspectives and emotional depth through my work.
Living outside Pomeroy, in the Northern Ireland countryside, the influence of the surrounding landscapes, nature, and local history is often reflected in their pieces. My paintings are known for their emotive use of colour and composition, which invites the viewer to explore their own connection to the world around them.
Over the years, I have exhibited in various local galleries and in both joint and solo shows, gaining recognition for my unique ability to combine traditional techniques with contemporary impressionism.
I continue to develop my practice, constantly inspired by the environment, and remain dedicated to creating art that resonates with viewers on a personal and profound level.
